Novena to St. Teresa of Avila - Second Day [Oct. 7th, 2006|06:12 am]

O most merciful Lord Jesus Christ! we thank Thee for the great gift of hope which Thou didst grant to Thy beloved Teresa; we pray Thee, by Thy merits, and by those of Thy holy spouse, to give us a great confidence in Thy goodness, by reason of Thy Precious Blood, which Thou hast shed to its last drop for our salvation.

Say one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be.

V. St. Teresa, pray for us:

R. That we may become worthy of the promises of Jesus Christ.

Let us pray: Graciously hear us, O God of our salvation! that as we rejoice in the commemoration of the blessed virgin Teresa, so we may be nourished by her heavenly doctrine, and draw from thence the fervour of a tender devotion; through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

O most amiable Lord Jesus Christ! We thank Thee for the great gift of faith and of devotion to the Holy Sacrament, which Thou didst grant to Thy beloved Teresa; we pray Thee, by Thy merits and by those of Thy faithful spouse, to grant us the gift of a lively faith, and of a fervent devotion toward the most Holy Sacrament of the altar; where Thou, O infinite Majesty! hast obliged Thyself to abide with us even to the end of the world, and wherein Thou didst so lovingly give Thy whole Self to us.

Novena to St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower [Sep. 22nd, 2006|03:29 pm]

Say once a day for 9 days. Many people report unexpectedly finding or being given a literal rose or roses (or smelling the perfume of roses) after praying to St. Thérèse, who said on her deathbed, "After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my Heaven doing good upon earth. I will raise up a mighty host of little saints. My mission is to make God loved..."

O little Thérèse of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the Heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.

O little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence in thy hands.

(Mention your intentions here)

St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as thou didst, in God's great love for me, so that I might imitate thy "Little Way" each day. Amen.

St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross [Dec. 29th, 2005|11:43 pm]

St. John

By St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross –Edith Stein – was a German philosopher and a convert from Judaism who became a Carmelite nun and was put to death at Auschwitz in 1942)

Through John we know how we are to participate as our destiny in the life of Christ – as a branch of the divine vine – and in the life of the triune God…John at the manger of the Lord – this says to us: See what happens to those who give themselves to God with pure hearts. In return, as a royal gift, they may participate in the entire inexhaustible fullness of Jesus’ incarnate life. Come and drink from the springs of living water that the Savior releases to the thirsty and that stream to eternal life. The Word has become flesh and lies before us in the form of a little newborn child. We may come to him and bring him gifts. And then, in a new year, we should go with him the entire way of his life on earth. Every mystery of this life that we seek to discern in loving contemplation is for us a fount of eternal life. And the same Savior, whom the written word presents to our eyes on all the paths he trod on earth in human form, lives among us disguised in the form of the Eucharistic bread. He comes to us every day as the bread of life. In either of these forms he is near to us; in either of these forms he wants to be sought and found by us. The one supports the other. When we see that Savior before us with the eyes of faith as the Scriptures portray him, then our desire to receive him in the bread of life increases. The Eucharistic bread, on the other hand, awakens our desire to get to know the Lord in the written word more and more deeply and strengthens our spirit to get a better understanding.

A new year at the hand of the Lord – we do not know whether we shall experience the end of this year. But if we drink from the fount of the Savior each day, then each day will lead us deeper into eternal life and prepare us to throw off the burdens of this life easily and cheerfully at some time when the call of the Lord sounds.

Chidhood memories [Sep. 19th, 2005|10:33 pm]

Painted memories of homeland
background of old and urban green
acres vintage of trees and plants
ground with hills and downs
rocks stream lets and rivers
always called beauty of nature
where our mother taught us to walk
on our bare feet in its reality.

The sweet memories of child hood
the home, brothers and sisters
parents and teachers and of their
teachings in its reality inherited
to sing always praises be to you
Jesus Christ with respect and love
to all parents and elders of church
warms up our heart with thy love
in togetherness and intimacy.

Born in me hope [Sep. 7th, 2005|05:27 pm]

The names called by you
son, child and mallu
the whispered words and
wish of you, if I can be father
On that father’s day your
appearance at the front door
the way you took those flowers
Made aware of your presence
near to me at social hall
and at gatherings
the times when you
called my name
the times you invited
us to your home
the smile you presented
like a brother, father
the time you waved me
with the holy smile
the times you took lead
at our gatherings
in between our heart
Formed a strong bridge
a bond with love
and that is of our faith
And born in me a hope
for my life
And built a trust in
the midst of you and me
Born in me a hope that
I got a priest to confess
Born in me a hope that
I got a brother who I can trust
Born in me hope that
I got a father who is
full of love, joy and thy spirit
Born in me hope that
I got a friend to whom
I can open up my hearts
troubles and sorrows.

The voice of you, the words of you
Look of you, the angelic smile of you
Though they were directed to all
Of us of our lady of health
At heart my heavenly father
Talked to me always, those words
Of said by you are for me
The look of you from that altar
Is for me, that angelic smile
Is for me, they are of all
Send from up above
Through you for me.
I remember of my old dream
Of the orphan child the new born
And I realized it is me that newborn
And heavenly father send a guardian.

Because of your great love
I will come in to your house
With deep respect I will bow down
Toward your holy temple.
Lord I have many enemies
Lead me in your right path
Make your way smooth
and straight for me.

Always remember to love your neighbor; always prefer the one who tries your patience, who test your virtue, because with her you can always merit: suffering is Love; the Law is Love.
